  1. Hi Mike Neal is right, these are best made from webbing. I have a set of these straps, and they are made completely differently than what we see in the art. The purchase list gives links to what you need for the webbing and the hooks. I would get two hooks for the front, two *(or four, up to you) triglides and make loops on the back end to loop over the belt, making adjustments at the front with the triglides and burying the hooks on the backside of the pistol belt so they are hidden (for level 2). here's the buy list. 2'' webbing is dirt cheap- get more than you think you need.
  2. yay! another IAT~~ I went to Mchaels and got a couple of cans of the Montana Gold Olive Green and sprayed Everything on the web gear including the belt and H strap. I painted the boots with Angelus olive green leather paint, then sprayed them and my helmet with the Montana gold. It will soak in when you spray the green, so be prepared for that. I don't like mismatch--its a huge issue with me so I made sure to paint everything to match. I kept the liners in my gloves, and yes they are THICK and WARM. To me they are slick and hard to grasp anything, which I don't remember from the gloves I had in the Army. For your suit go to Joanns and find the twill aisle. There is a green bottom weight twill there called--Army Green. Its SIMILAR TO but not the same as OG107 green, but for bulk, its close. Here is my WIP and you can see the steps I went through. The Black version (Sapper) is certainly easier with no painting involved. https://forum.specops501st.com/index.php?/topic/6018-iat-green-trooper-wip/
  3. well done on your WIP Joseph. Im glad you found a hat that looks good AND fits, and that you are making progress. It will all be worth it in the end.

    000 progress

    woooooooooooow!!!!
  5. its going to be the same with the sandys they have the same/simlar style pouch. I have always found anytghing on the side of the helmet restricts movement, but love the look on my Sapper belt!
  6. i just re reed the whole thing and was going to comment on the funkadelic bullets but you see it. Definitely agree with the pauldron+MP40 look.
  7. i folded my collar under, stitched it to the same size, and stitched the collar extension on. as is, the collar when flipped up is too tall.
  8. Mike I looked back at the CR:L and it states hair should appear short in length. When I was in the Army we wore BDU caps and ladies had to wear their hair in a bun if long, tucked at the back of the hat. Since we do not have a current CRL model, I would suggest she go ahead and do the build per the CRL. As you know, several changes may happen from the time we publish the CRL until the LMO ratifies it and approves for Legion use.
  9. PLEASE NOTE: As written at the top of the first post, this topic is from January 2018 and is OUT OF DATE. To answer the question regarding the suit, no, it is completely different. The Army does not share components with the Navy other than the hat and in some cases boots. Here is the Imperial Army Purchase list
  10. Troopers we have a development--the patches will be readily available soon! Stand by for verification.
  11. since we dont currently HAVE a CRL for it, she can work towards becoming the CRL model. The crl we have in progres does suggest close cropped short hair, so take that into suggestion. I have posted a link in the Army Trooper section that has a list of the basic Army trooper items , and there are distinct differences for Sunber such as modified pouches for the binocs, and some different pouches, yet the links I have in the resource list would help source a lot of Sunbers suit.
  12. thats what im seeing as well, to denote where the dome seperates from the lower half of the helmet.
  13. thanks for the update and please keep us posted about your progress. Many of my own armor kits --as well as soft kits---took a long time.
  14. and heres the rub. The upper panel has a Grey T bit shape, and the lower panel has a red t bit shape.
  15. Are we going to create completely seperate CRLs, or tabbed variations?
  16. the darker OD patch looks like what Kerry Rowntree did a while back. he used OD instead of the vibrant green.
  17. comparing my own patches to the screen image things look fine. the shield is nice and vibrant and the dark green color looks correct compared to mine. is the left side bowing just a issue with that individual patch? mine curl p at the top edge until they are sewed down.
  18. Certainly fair enough, not knowing the actual floss colors used. the WTF patches used a bright green, not quite emerald green for the sword shape and something near OD for the background. I contacted a maker last night and gave him your file, Ill see if I can dig through my wifes embrodiery flosses and come up with a similar color to the green sword. EDIT --for anyone who might want to try this on a home embroidery machine. My wife has Madera 1769 green floss and it is a shade darker than the sword on the patch. Standard black and white for the patch borders and cog, embroidered on olive green or dark olive green. the CRL just says "darker shade of green".
  19. Ive contacted a vendor I have worked with in the past quite a bit, and he is looking them over now to determine what it will take to get them made by his maker that he gets product from.
  20. that is super helpful. like SUPER. @Raider can we alter the text?
  21. Thank you Anthony!!! Can we get a definition of what the colors are? I know mine I purchased from WTF original run have a bright vibrant green on a background similar to OG107 uniform sateen.
  22. hello and welcome Joseph! A couple of things to consider: 1 your budget 2 you may continue to grow as you get older (* I sure did!) . If you are 17 and looking to build now, and join soon, ignore everything Im about to say about going up in sizes. The engineer is pretty simple, and I have an outlined resource list posted in the forum. If you have a local surplus store, a lot of this will be right in the store. Unfortunately you can't walk into any given store and find black work coveralls. I always have to mail order mine , and I have started using the Natural Workwear brand on Amazon. They are comparable to DIckies at a somewhat cheaper price. Find your best deal. Unlike other conversions you will only need one pair. USAF style flight suits with all the pockets and zippers are wrong for this suit. If you are still growing you might want to leave it a bit baggy. We have GA troopers here and they are still growing, so they use somewhat large coveralls, but not TOO large, just enough to let them grow into them. You can always refer back to my build WIP for any reference, but keep in mind I had to make a bunch of changes during the build. Most of the build is mail order, so that makes this especially easy. Here is the buy list for the Imperial Army, and fits the three established CRLs. I found most of my stuff on Ebay and Amazon. If you have a local surplus store you can probably just walk in and get it, this is pretty common stuff. This list is pretty comprehensive so you will want to poke through all of its links. Just remember everythign on the Egnineer is glorious black. Here's my coverall conversion. It was written for the blue mechanical crewman, so ignore some of the details in the photos like the point. Just follow the text. The Engineer back pockets can be used for the leg pockets. You don't need to make the whole collar conversion, you can add a tab from suit material like the arm pocket, and that has been what most people have done. Use a super sharp utility knife on the inside of the pocket bartacks. bust the bartacks loose For boots, its really up to you, but until you are ready to join, I would consider going with a low cost alternative . The CRL is written for regular jackboots, and Ebay can be a great source if you want to make the jump now. Otherwise, a black simple boot from a thrift store will work. I looked at boots at a couple of thrift stores this week: One was a pull on work type boot which might work if the wellington type top was cut off. For the pouches you can use the recommended pouches, or stick with four black , smaller, less expensive pouches for now. There are two other considerations, the hat and the patches. Currently we don't have a source for the patches, as they have sold out again. years ago a member made his own with the small size Imperial cogs you can find on Ebay, a large patch of olive fabric and two rectangles of green fabric, sewing them together to form the shape. We do need asource for the patches, that is certain. On the hat, Its up to you. There are a lot of inexpensive hats on Ebay, but they look funky. there are members in the Imperial Officer Corps forums who will make hats. Understand this is not mail order, you go on a waiting list, and the wait can and often does take several months due to the very high demand for black hats. This is by no means great, but its economical. I can tell you from personal experience the costumebase brand hat found on Ebay and Amazon is just plain BAD. Etsy seller 20eyesdesign has made a bunch of things for me over the years and I can speak to her work. it will not be the best hat you have ever seen but its affordable. Measure your head, don't guess, these are made to order and they cannot be resized. I hope this helps, good luck, and please post your progress!
  23. we still have people coming into the program who need patches, plus people who do not necessarily post to the forums, so the need will be ongoing. I have contacted a maker I work with a lot, as well as WTF directly to inquire about restock.
