it looks screen accurate to me for sure. just remember that your GML will be looking at the CRL photos and you can supply these as well when you submit the costume for approval.

This might be one of the molds he purchased from WTF. What about the RADU helmet?
-
Anton probably has the better answer but I will add what I can, I agree that the rounded rivets will look better than flat rivets, thats the visual I get from looking at the pictures posted. L2 is intended to be harder to achieve, and you can get a functional pillbox on thingiverse and print it out. I have one on my TIE helmet. My helmet originally came with just a bump in 2008, so I upgraded it. On the vocoder I saw a pic, and IIRC it was from Radu when he was developing the helmet for the tv show, and the vocoder was separate. I had discussed with staff making this, as a separate piece. Personally, and this is just me and my very old fashioned brain, I would use thin black tubing like either RC fuel line tubing, or even heat shrink tubing, and then run a heavy wire through it and form it. I hope this helps and look forward to your build progress.

Steven it looks to me like you are off to an awesome start!!!! Now lets bring it home, get you approved and get you set up as L2 Specialist!

Hello Jean, welcome to the forum. If you have worked through our discussion you know that its quite extensive and there was a lot of discussion and measurement on the belts, and that overall this costume is made of smaller than standard components. On the Belt since it was @TX-20113@MahXPrime who did the discussion and measurements, I will let them answer, since they understand this costume more intimately than I do. On the Thermal Detonator , after rather extensive review of the components, and how the game illustrates that it is attached, we chose to leave it to the wearer to determine how best to mount it. So, its up to you. Game use magic electron glue, but the real world has to figure things out. Talk to your GML and find out what will be acceptable. Magnets have been suggested for a lot of things, and perhaps it would work. The 8 snaps should appear silver, and appear bright in the game, with little to not weathering. I have a functional pillbox on the back of my TIE helmet, its a stl file so that it opens and closes like the real plectrum box that was used on the original TIE helmets in '77. The separate vocoder was discussed by Captain Radu who made the helmets used for the Star Wars Show, and that is discussed here. The EF patches appear to be correct based on L2 of the CRL, but I will say that their patch appears to be on a square weave twill that appears to be more boxlike than vertically oriented. @TX-20113 or @MahXPrime should have a better answer than I can give now, the patch is not listed in the Vendor list for Del Meeko. OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): Patches are vinyl on textile with no edge border. If twill is used for the patch material the fabric texture will be vertically oriented. I hope this helps.

Micheal what exactly are you trying to figure out ? Any brand of black work coveralls will work. The conversion is extremely simple. Is it a particular size you are looking for, or is it doing the mod? I have the tutorial posted on how to do the mod.

PROPOSED CRL MODIFICATION: Inferno Squad Del Meeko
Blackwatch replied to MahXPrime's topic in Inferno Squad Del Meeko
Troopers There is a discussion point regarding how the current DM CRL is workded regarding the flightsuit portion. Item 2 of the CRL states: The front zipper is covered by a 2" (50mm) wide piece of leather or leather-like material with vertical lines that attaches with Velcro over the zipper. Below that there is a refernece to nylon webbing: There is a piece of nylon strapping sewn below the pen sleeve openings and is the same length as the top of the pocket. The final text entry on the L1 flightsuit states: A piece of leather or leather-like material is sewn below the pen sleeve openings and is the same length as the top of the pocket. The second and third statements above are directly contradictory. The CRL model displays the leather like piece stitched on the pen sleeves, and that is found in the Gallery view. We will have screen captures from the game forthcoming. Please discuss, this is a public discussion. -
Looking at all the refs, and no they never truly match up, it looks like the largest image shows an angle at the top. Does that mean the artist tried to make it look like youre just looking up from the lower angle, and it appears angled, or is it actually angled. The other references dont indicate this. I think it should be straight out, and not angled. Im going to have to investigate Polyflex, ive never heard of it before. Bondo cracks like mad with trooping. Im about to start printing my ICAT armor (I cant believe I actually typed that sentence out) and i dont want that having a zillion bondo ships after two troops.
-
I am doing an ICAT myself, but not a mudtrooper, and while they consist of the primarily the same parts, there are fundamental differences beyond the helmet. Dig into the work in progress topics for each of the troopers, especially the one written by rickboyblue , one of our pioneers. You will get an information overload. The mudtrooper is MUCH MUCH ****MUCH**** dirtier. The ICAT is a truck driver. You may want to get your ICAT approved first, then go to town on the weathering on the MT. Actually i am wearing my fully converted ICAT pants now, with the thigh patches. added It turns out that the black Dickies 874 original fit black work pants with scabbed-on parts from Dickies flights suits not only fade perfectly, but are quite comfortable to wear during the day in South Louisiana September heat. There should be a vendor source list in the MT forum. I got my jacket made from JT in the Phillipines. Let me say that the jacket has PLENTY OF ROOM in it, so dont try to add any on your measurements. Im too big to fit in manufactured armor, so Ill be printing my own. I bought a printer, ive spent months researching, and I will start on it this fall once I have settings figured out. Im looking forward to your progress!

Were you able to get what you needed?

trust me, theres a lot of black zip ties on my rigs!!!! I cant wait to see you approved.

Looking good and the arm seams should present no problems, since its not discussed in the CRL. I have my hooks going through the hole, from the bottom, literally holding the belt from below. Mine are dropped another 1CM down from where you have yours, to hold that bottom edge of the belt. In future, if you want to go L2 *which I totally suggest* you'll need to add a snap and piece of webbing to each of the puches. Look at the CRL, click on the pic and it will take you to the enlarged image. I used the nylon loops I cut off the bottom of the pouch, used to pull it open, and put a snap half on that, then sewed it to the pouch flap. Pretty easy stuff.

Cummerbund and Soft Parts Source
Blackwatch replied to Luthien's topic in Armor/Soft Parts and Where to Find Them
The bund itself is really simple, even for beginners. Its just a tube, and going by what you have already you can sew your own out of black fabric. ive made a few, and Im more round than straight, so it was more of a challenge. But essentially its a long rectangle with velcro on the ends, sized properly to fit between the belt and the chest armor, and the stitching in the middle. As far as projects go, this one is on the very easy to sew end. -
Im curious too. Are magnets actually strong enough to hold it?

A while back we tried to get another type of Army trooper, an officer, approved but we did not have enough resources. To get a new type approved you must have a minimum of three matching sources, head to toe, showing 360* of the character. Im really happy with it and how it turned out, but unless we see it in the newer comics or even the Disney series, It going to be a one-off for me. -

Blackwatch replied to Beau Thacker's topic in Imperial Army Units
Beau i sent your harness parts out in the mail yesterday, so you will have them soon. You just need to mount them to the belt, try everything on and keep the webbing as flat to your shoulders as you can make it, putting that horizontal strap under the webbing right across your shoulderblades. Final image should look like this -

Good morning, I apologize for getting to this late, but Ive been just a bit busy. The current, published CRL is always correct, regardless of what any one says. That is the only measure we have to grade by. If you want to shoot for specialist look to the blue text in the CRL. There is a list of boots in this topic, so the boots shoud be available, there is another applicant doing Sunber and he just picked up boots a couple of weeks ago. I agree that they are comfortable. Your gloves are pilot style, and will not be used for a IAT. The IAT gloves are a very short, green glove. It appears that your epaulettes are still attached, go ahead and remove those. Thats what I made my collar closure out of. If you havent seen it yet, here is the Vendor list. -

I do believe at this rate you wil be official for the Con. -
the mods are to make it a bit tighter on you so its not baggy. I flipped mine inside out and pinned it, then stitched along that line on the arms, and the legs. You still need to be able to sit. Stand the collar up and make a flap to close the collar. Trim down the legs where they fit inside the boots better. Then the standard round of scout parts, the mudflap, riding patches and the 50MM black elastic. Mine was all white for snowscout but its exactly the same. There are topics both here and on the TB forums on how to do the mods. If I may offer some constructive criticism, I suggest that the depressions/ holes at the hinge bolts be filled in, especially if you plan to go to L2 Specialist. I really hope you go for Specialist, its more work but in the end its worth it. As you work if you shine a strong flashlight across the flat surface of the helmet you will see all low spots that need filler. Bondo Glazing spot putty shrinks over time, but it works to fill in spots that size. Other puttys such as BlueAcryl or even fiberglass resin dropped in will not shrink as much.

Ive just had a big setback, but honestly I cant wait to order my soft parts. Love the look! I just have to wait=====longer

Eric ya I had a fourth of july party / bbq / going away party/ ships official annual party/ Fleet event at my house, and we all got to hang out for the first time in EVER, and I was able to sit down with Beau and get a bit of work done on his suit. His suit is a Danish spec forces suit (Fitting) and it looks great, the color and texture are awesome.
