agreed. L1 always has to come down to availability, even at the expense of making them from scratch through someone like ImperialBoots, which at that expense would lean towards L2. Many of us in the Legion have custom made boots for a specific costume especially when like me you have monster size feet that don't always fit off the shelf boots. I would be remiss not to mention as a reminder for those following this topic that the overall uniform and its components will be approved by the Garrison GML using the CRL as a guide.

just getting back to this, Im working storing planes in Roswell NM, and with the heat cooking my brain and the blast furnace winds frying my eyeballs, Im just getting back online. Belt Belt is a 2"-2.25" wide nylon military style quick release web belt. Belt is black in color. Belt has grommets that run along both the top and bottom of its length. OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): Belt has no holes.

hey, we have every other color except yellow and brown, for obvious reasons. Phasma is chrome. Why not. its just a TK of a different color, sort of like a horse. Of course.

Thanks for the breakdown. I just did some comparisons on 004connec and MG. MG is lacquer in acrylic resin base, wich I suspsected when I used it. Smells just like Tamiya spray paint and behaves the same. 004connec says it wont harm the atmospher but I could not find out what type of paint it is, whether it is an acrylic/ a/L or enamel, which I doubt. Acrylics are super easy to find all over the planet, so were not concerned with those. I discovered entirely by accident that MG paints are sold in Michaels. They are in a locked cage unlike the other spray paints they sell, and the associates had no idea what it was used for until I told them it was graphic paint. The look that comes over their faces when I tell then that says it all. its pricy but good stuff.

Thank you so much for fixing this !~ i tried and tried and tried on two different computers. The leather gloves was intended to be L1 because in the l1 text it says leather or leather like. Could you go ahead and update so that the formattting remains? The only spot I see that would require some formatting is the DLT19 X, the spacing is off as well as color needs to be changed for L2. thanks again!!!!!

The boots must match the original art. No laces. Please see Kessels boot topic for more. Also, the Det is not approving the boot, your Garrison GML will be the person who approve the costume. The Garrison will only be approving a Specialist Level 2 application, which is tighter than Base Level 1 approval.

if we write the standart to say "full" everyone can acheive that with minimal investment in either a person to do alterations, or in purchasing a separate suit to cut up and use to make the expansion panel. ive done it on a bunch of Rebel geat to meet the standard, and trying to sew that gusset was a beast. I have no idea how they do it in the factory. On mine, I stuffed the patch pocket with a block of hard foam.

HI guys, we are not working today ( no pay for me) so Im at the hotel catching up on forums. Ive read both posts, and It takes me back to when we were writing, rewriting, and then completely restructuring the Rebel Fleet Trooper. Twenty years ago we allowed applicants to the RL to apply with a modified BDU jacket, grey BDU pants (which became all but impossible to source as they were no longer made in light grey) and blue shirt. Over time, when I ran RAID (The Rebel Trooper Detachment) we re wrote the Standard to include any upgrade the trooper wanted to make to the vest to make it more accurate, and the pants were required to be light grey, not charcoal, smoke or any other grey. That mean that the pants had to be made. The shirts were becoming more difficult as well because the USN shirt had changed from the way the Nayy had them manufactured, and it was difficult to get two shirts that actually matched, was the right shade, and both shirts mathed so when the bib was constructed, it matched the rest of the modified shirt. So, we saw fewer entries. In the final days of my running the Det, we completely restructured the entire Standard using new data from the new Costume book that had just been released, and the blue rays which showed us previously unseen details. Now we know the pants were not BDU style, they were custom made for the movie, the vest was a found item that had to be replicated exactly, and the shirt was a Royal Air Force shirt that had not been made in years, and the color and cut was once again changed. The effect was that we did not see an increase in submissions, because what had once been an "entry level" lower cost costume had risen to a mid-cost, low interest, difficult to approve costume. Each peice was custom made. Either you made your own from scratch, or paid someone to do it, since it could not be procured. Cost went from about $150 for pants shirt and vest (*BDU jacket modified for use) to paying almost that for just the vest to be constructed unless you took it on for yourself. My point is this. The art is inconsistent, which is what we always find in comic art relying on just a few panels. We left how the pockets are constructed off on purpose. I can save up a few days of overtime and order what I need, but I cannot say the same for someone in another part of the world (regional accessibility to materials). I also cannot say what a GML will say about an additional seam on a component. Ive seen GMLs refuse gloves for a "decorative seam" on RP gloves, when the glove was added to the body of the glove for increased flexibilty, but the CRL image did not show the seam on the glove. GMLs can be funny that way. Do we strive for excellence? yes we do. Do we strive for completeness? Absolutely. But we also have to balance what this costume IS, against what others on the planet can achieve. For my money, I would say apply these proposals to the Sapper, which is a full upgrade to the Engineer to begin with. A Sapper should be more difficult to approve, simply because of how it is constructed. I built the Engineer and the Sapper at the same time, knowing Sapper was the final goal. Hope this makes sense. Also I did the same with my goggles, the typical welder goggles have reinforced elastic. My dads goggle had a red stripe in the 70s, now they mostly have blue stripes. I just replaced with elastic.

Im not a stormie style TX but this looks pretty normal to me. Keep in mind youre going to have shoulderbells covering your shoulders, so part of what you are seeing is your shoulders as well as your belly region. You are wearing a T shirt. When you fit this, -and boy do I know this from building clones-, you want to wear your undersuit when you are final fitting stuff. Jeans fits TOTALLY different than how you will be scrunched up inside your underarmor.

Wow. Ok. that IS a lot of colors. Im digging the pantones, I learned with the mudtrooper you can go into paint shops and they will mix the pantone for you. Is it cheap? probably not. But im sure with all the myriad paints on the market that they overlap, even within brands like Rustoleum, R2x, Krylon, American Accents, ColorSpot etc. I find those enamels from Dollar General are not only cheap, but they are tough as heck. Did you have a use list of color brands that you used? I use a ton of acrylics, and quality acrylics can be sourced generally anywhere worldwide. When we set up the CRLs , we are going far beyond the front/ back image of days gone by. Now the CRLs have Gallerioes and alternate views, and Im not beyond taking photos of color samples painted on plastic, and posting that to the CRL gallery, so we have a good, clear representation of the intended color.

I started the mentor corps over at the JRS a lifetime ago and I had a list just like that I tried to keep up, and posting it here really helps people source what is totally intended to be an easy to build, as well as accurate to source art, uniform. I took a look at all your links, and the one link to the gauntlet glove will not work, that's a RP style glove. I still have my old TD560s, and they are identical. I never could find a glove that would work, but i Icheated. I attached a strip of stitching (green fabric, green thread), to the backs of my gloves with Barge cement. I had glued square handbacks on my black gloves originally as well. I got those french army gloves on a bogo deal so I could not pass them up. My hooks are clipped into the inside of the belt, facing outward so you don't see the hooks. I have my green belt filled up with pouches so you don't see much belt. If you are setting up to L2 make sure that the back strap sits level on your shoulderblades, and that your boots are tucked, not bloused, we are changing the terms (you can look at the proposal CRL). You're doing good work, and I'd like to see your point on the pleated pocket. We had dozens of eyes looking at it creating the CRL using all known sources, which arent many, but my own Elco green have a bellows, so a GML should not disapprove based on it. Its just that we do not see it in the source images. To me, as a former GML the hat fits. This is an Imperial Army hat, it will not have the "stand up and salute" aspect of the Imperial Officer hat. Lt Sunber should be created with a super crisp, but somewhat stained, Officer Hat. Is your GML inclined to approve it? if so, and he does approve(or will approve) I would like to add this resource to the hat source links. When I get paid , depending on how much I make on my first paycheck in months, I may order a green hat to check it out. Overall, this suit is VERY simple. Honestly this whole rig is entry level and can be as cheap, or cheaper, than a Reserve Pilot, and we hope to catch up to the RP/ IC in popularity. I posted new boot links in the Imperial Army parts list topic, so there's new resources thanks to Kessel. What feedback are you getting on the patches? I updated the topic from EndorFinders, I'm going to go check out their site immediately.

i like the shape overall. the only issue with the boot is that decorative stitching. A GML MIGHT/ MAY/ ITS UP TO HIM OR HER approve for L1 use, which isnt really a bad thing if you can source these. But I do not believe they would pass for Specialist approval. Kessel I want to again give you a big thanks, for going above and beyond in your search. I have posted a link in the Army Equipment Purchase List topic so others may find this topic. Even if the links do not work, you have posted the names of the boots that fit the bill.

Sorry Ryan I did not see your propoosal , I had read Alex's post from Tuesday and worked from there. Lets work from one proposal. Yours has the correct bullet forattting that my computes refuse to work with, so lets use yours. The only difference is that on my L2 I have the ear bumps with four bumps and a fifth rectungular black depression that Alex described.

Thats good work you did Kessel Ill say ,always check with your GML. some of these have additional, decorative stitching. It may be approvable for a L1 base approval, but if one wants to go Specialist that will likely be a issue. Good work!
