Battlefront Shadow Stormtrooper Reference Photos
Blackwatch replied to deadvision's topic in Shadow Stormtrooper
ALSO for anyone taking photos for CRLs, we now have CRL Galleries. These give us many many more photo options than previoiusly. If you have not seen them, check out the Shadow Scout and Mutrooper Galleries. The Mudtrooper even has tabs so you can see two versions. When taking photos for the CRL, please take photos of the components including the insides, giving as mjuch detail as possible. The Galleries are going to be a great reference for eliminating any "guesswork" that may have come from previous CRL photos. -
very good.

New CRL Development - Val Mudtrooper (Complete)

Any further input? If not, tomorrow we move onward. -
its good stuff, and even through SW is pricey , it beats the living crap out of spending hours sanding something that somebody printed for me.
-
Its been almost two weeks. Are we about ready to propose this to the LMO for ratification?

my regular TiE pilot box is bolted on, but its also full of batteries, fans and LEDs. My ATAT box is velcroed on, and it got so cold once that my hoses froze and literally pushed my box off my chest. I found magnets let it slide around too much, and velcro stresses the black plastic. plastic/nylon bolts should be fine.

New CRL Proposal: Imperial Army Officer (Various Sources)
Blackwatch replied to izzi's topic in Imperial Army Officer
I have put it together to a point that we can see what it looks like. I have two versions: 1: Armored Commander style ribbed shoulder bridges, and black goggle strap. 2: Smooth shoulder bridges (intended for L2) with optional tan goggle strap. I know there are issues with this setup, it was literally the first time putting it on, and I have fixed how the legs fit into my boots. The black trim and the rank tiles are missing, they have not been fitted yet. The smooth shoulder bridges need to be re heated and re formed, they gave us a lot of trouble during this photo setup. if you want to see the whole album, its a ton of files: Dewkas Army Ground Commander files, first look.- 89 replies

New CRL Proposal: Imperial Army Officer (Various Sources)
Blackwatch replied to izzi's topic in Imperial Army Officer
OK! I got a minute to get a photo of it. This is the wire loop fixture, common to the Snow Commander, and while it is seen in the Ground Commander CRL photos, it is not defined, other than saying that the Commander uses the same chest plate as the Snow Commander, featuring this wire fixture.- 89 replies

Been using Matt Nelson s Army Trooper greeb . its a little different from the AtSt helmet comm greeb from Shapeways. He sells them both under his blockade runner supply name there. I prepaint with some thinned figure paint in a similar color in this case olive green and then I drill two holes in the helmet and run a pop rivet in from the inside of helmet so the pulled end of the rivet protrudes as an anchor to glue to. I sand the greeb until it fits flush. I give it a primer coat separately from the helmet then mounted and paint the rest of the helmet https://www.shapeways.com/product/T4B5VP24L/imperial-army-trooper-telemetry-unit?optionId=64641981&li=marketplace

New CRL Proposal: Imperial Army Officer (Various Sources)
Blackwatch replied to izzi's topic in Imperial Army Officer
We are trying to use as much of the previously approved text from the commander crl, and that's what they call it. I have a picture of it but I'm not near my computer so I can't post it right now. Because the text of the Commander references the snow Commander I went to look at that crl and it shows a picture of the wire fixture it's literally a coat hanger bent to fit and riveted with Split rivet.- 89 replies

New CRL Proposal - Lieutenant Janek Sunber (SW:E)
Blackwatch replied to Tarrif's topic in Lieutenant Janek Sunber
@ Raider the character needs to reflect the art, clean shaven face and correct hair. This was part of the discussion early on, since we had an LMO Ruling that Izzi cleared, Sunber being a unique character. In this case it will be the same rquirement that we have in place for Thrawn, Isaard, etc, matching the character. I did some re reading, and looking up wards of what Shane posted, here is the pouch layout. Ignore where the green trooper in hat says cuff style pouch. While this may be ok for basic, it would not match what we see on Sunber for at least an L2 requirement. I want to thank Shane Pm07 for doing all the legwork on figuring this out. there are total four Magazine/ utility pouches - left and right belt right and right harness Condor Utility pouch Grenade style pouch next to the right buckle Grenade pouch Large horizontal utility pouch (add 2 snaps, same as the Engineer back pouch) Condor Horizontal Utility / Mag pouch triple mag pouch at the rear Triple Mag pouch. EB pouch similar to a modified MA8 pouch basic MA8 or a modified binocular pouch binocular pouch * There are some changes I would like to make to the CRL as it stands. The CRL propsal currently says that the gloves are black, clearly they are not. I would at LEAST make this an L2 requirement, with basic approval being a black glove. The commlink description just says commlink on the left strap. Aren't the commlinks white? I would change this to olive green, we see no other depiction of these being any other color on the Officers. green leather work gloves, not great, have to take the suede off green leather glove 1 Better choice, I have these for my IAT, two came in the pack from Sportsmans Guide catalog. green leather glove 2 * read Shanes post above regarding pouches, and sizes and what needs to be done. Make sure your Electrobinos fit in the pouch.- 119 replies

Thanks for the feedback guys. We are getting permissions set up to make CRL edits. I have already started to remove all Pantone references in Val's CRL. I think its pretty clear from the WIPs, and from the Celebration photos that unless you have all your Pantone paint mixed at the same time and applied by the same person its going to look vastly different. Thats just the nature of a paint. Where in the hell do you get Pantone paint mixed???? I asked around and shops had no clue what I was talking about.
-
Until we can get the CRL changed, and get the permissions to do so (*waiting on that now) match the CRL text. In time the CRL will be updated. We are currently writing the Sunber CRL and writing that into it, so for those that have never done it, were putting the "how to" out there.

New CRL Proposal - Lieutenant Janek Sunber (SW:E)

Since this is for a CRL model, the Level 2 would be preferred to show that option. But Im not saying that level 1 would be rejected by the LMO for a CRL model.- 119 replies

that may be like getting realistic clones reapproved.

I know its a pain in the butt, but i have taken wide masking tape, cut the decal stripe shape into the tape and made a mask for the stripes when Ive painted these helmets. yeah, its a lot of work but looks great. Good luck with this, I love black scouts!

New CRL Development - Val Mudtrooper (Complete)
Blackwatch replied to RAIDER's topic in Mudtrooper Val
@Raider regarding the pistol finish, its black with a chrome muzz lethat has been modified, so, "yes" to your black or chrome query. updated colors in the original CRL text, fixed sizes, added "apple" to scarf as discussion point. That brings us down to the Poncho, which may be good as-is PONCHO · Plash Palatka Style Poncho. · Poncho is dyed or painted black. · Tied or otherwise attached under the chest armor and worn to cover the back plate. · Poncho shall be heavily weathered. OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): · Ring Grommets shall be leather to match reference photo or metal grommets shall be covered with leather to mimic leather grommets. -

I found a set of colors. Since international names as well as monitor settings may vary, I suggest (and I may be wrong!) I suggest the color "apple" from the following chart. No, thats not an international color, but its a description and I know theres more than one shade of 'apple red" just as this chart shows us 20, so its a direction. I compared the refernces pictures to my phone with htis image on it. Lighting changes this color dramatically as we see from the reference shots. -
New CRL Proposal - Lieutenant Janek Sunber (SW:E)
Blackwatch replied to Tarrif's topic in Lieutenant Janek Sunber
Ok just posting this here for everyones review. Ive fixed all the colors and cleaned it up. Boots For 501st approval: Mid- Calf high black or olive green leather or leather like material. Jackboot or "Commuter" type boot required. Free of laces, decorative stitching, buckles on the instep or any other embellishments. Zippers on the inside of the boot are acceptable, so long as they are concealed. If the zipper is not covered by vinyl/ leather, it is painted to match the boot. If jackboot is used, trouser leg shall be "bloused" down over boot shaft to show no more than 9" (23cm) of the boot. "Commuter" boot is already the correct height. Tread on the soles and heel are acceptable. Weathering on boots is acceptable. For level 2 certification (if applicable) "Commuter" style boot 8-9" (20-23cm) in height. Calf high boots such as "kersey" style are not acceptable.- 119 replies

-----------------------------UPDATED MAY 2020------------------------------------------------ Troopers Looking at the source art, the boots are short. while we do consider the Commuter 2 boot to be preferred due to its very low height of not more than 9" while retaining the look of a simple boot , not everyone can find them . You can use regular old Jackboots at this time, per the CRL for Level 1 approval. If you have tall boots, ___EDITED______ If you have taller boots tuck the legs in to give the appearance of short boots. OR buy cheap round two engineer boots and cut the shaft down to 8-9 inches. OR Buy the commuter II style boot which meets the intent of the new, unpublished CRL. UNTIL THE NEW CRL GOES INTO EFFECT, THE CURRENT CRL WILL REMAIN VALID.
