  1. guys, just wanted to say that this is exactly the kind and spirit of cooperation we look for. This helps everyone doing a muddy. Thanks guys!
  2. I have a doopy conversion and personally---and this is me-- I like them. Just sand off all the star wars markings before you start. There have been a lot of great tutorials over the years on how to upgrade these blasters. Before Doopy there was a feller in Star Garrison makkng resin parts and I have his stuff on my old E11. Back in yesteryear the Blaster Builders Club had plans and templates to upgrade these, so I used aluminum channel stock and plate to make a working stock. I also took the blaster apart and cut open the charge handle track, then wrapped wire around a dowel to simulate the spring, replaced the charge port with a piece of alumumum flashing, opened up the big rail on the back, drilled open all the holes, replaced all the T tracks, made the stock work, used a peephole viewer up front in the site--it was fun and a lot of work. In the end the Hasbro is a smaller than realistic blaster, and the NEW habro blaster that was sold in Toys R Us wound up being a little more correct, but not much. If you are getting the original blaster that Doopy designed his mod for, just be careful cutting the front tip off so you don't nick the LED wire. Its a simple, drop on conversion and looks a lot better than the blaster toy. I just wish he would cast the thing in black resin instead of tan.
  3. hey troopers just to confirm, when you say light up, do you mean the two vertical orange slots in the back of the tank area? I can alter the verbiage to "fully closed"

  6. Reading through the tutorial I see you are using Phorex. I googled it and cannot come up with the same item here in the US but by using a hair dryer to form it it appears to be sintra , a foamed PVC sheet which holds its shape once formed. Scraps can be had at sign making shops.
  7. I have a 17 pound (mass not currency) Homak. 74 pounds with my tools. My pliers would not fit in that little thing!
  8. wow....this is coming together and Im so happy to see those photos~~~! made the change to the blaster as advised, and we can look forward to this being a published up to date CRL soooooon!
  9. most of my uniforms are not approved with blasters. Its easier to get past the GMLs intense gaze without one more thing to check for approval.
  10. good deal on the weathering. I feel that since the EC17 is a weapon, it belongs at the bottom, not in line with the rest of the Uniform. While it is appropriate, there are Garrisons where weapons are a no-go. I would also remove the jackboot term since jacks tend to be short. In Darrens post he suggested removing the term regarding soviet replica boots. EC-17 BLASTER · A modified EC-17 is worn around the neck, over the armor · EC-17 is modified with a conical muzzle, with a chrome finish. 11. tom niether of those boots will work. The pics are overly bright, but the first are a Chukka style, and far too small. More of a shoe than a boot. The second is a Chelsea, which stormtroopers use to make their shoes with, and has a wide elastic U on the side. Common, black jackboots are going to be your best bet, just blouse down the pants over them. I have a blousing tutorial posted. Heck you can even paint the boots green, when I did mine I used acrylic green paint. Clear these with your GML (but at least here ) they are cheap. No idea what the import duty would be there. This comes in size 42 (US 9) boot Link
  12. Val's Belt the one thing that does bug me is the cleanliness of the rope while everything else if dirty. BELT · The belt is constructed from a non-textured leather or a leather-like material. · Approximately 2" (50 mm) in width, up to 3" (76mm ) is acceptable. · There are no loops on the belt. · A single large snap or rivet is visible approximately 1" (25 mm) from the buckle. · The belt may be worn with the snap to the right or left of the wearer. · The buckle is a standard officer buckle painted with matte olive green paint and is moderately weathered. · Buckle is adorned with an Imperial Code Disk at the center. · Please refer to the Imperial Buckle reference page for information on accurate and inaccurate style buckles. · Suspended from the belt on the right side, via 1” (25mm) leather loops with snaps, are two grenades as shown. · On the left side of the belt are 3 silver-colored EC-17 cartridges, suspended via leather holder as shown · Also on the left are the two ends of a 3/8" (10mm) red climbing rope, tied in a knot as shown. 13. Hello Tom, welcome and thank you for asking great questions. Lets look at what you have found. First, have you spoken to your local GML about any of the components you listed? he or she may (or may not) be willing to accept for approval. The GML should be involved in monitoring , especiallythings like the boots. Lets start at the bottom, the boots: I used to be a GML and I used to do approvals, and I know that the boots you listed have zippers on the outside (visible) That will not be accepted, you will need boots with the zips on the inside. I have HUGE feet and big calves, so i cannot wear jackboots, and wear round toe motorcycle boots with the zippers on the inside. If you can wear them ( I WISH I could!!!) a lot of preople in my Garrison wear these. I have 28 TIE pilots and multiple other uniforms that wear there, so there are probably 50 pair in use here locally. Jackboots or knobelberchers are fine for Level 1 Trooper approval. Ebay Boot Link For the webbing, make your own. I use 2" (50mm) Olive green heavy nylon webbing. I buy webbing in 30 foot rolls because it is so cheap. I get the hooks online as well, but per the CRL says the snaps may be visible, and the back of the harness may be permanently mounted. Web Harness Olive green colored, double strap “H” harness which travels from the lower back, and up over the shoulders. The harness system attaches to the belt. Harness is made of 2 inch olive green nylon webbing. Visible snap-hook style fasteners that attach to belt eyelets are acceptable Tri-glides may be present on front or back of the suspenders. Back of suspenders may be permanently fastened to belt, but not required. You will find that if you make the backside of the webbing more into a V shape than an H it will fit better. You can get webbing onilne, its very common, and takes a few minutes to make the harness up with a sewing machine. Olive green webbing You can get the wbbing locally, its a very common color. Snaps are black This is the kind of snap you would need, most are made in China so you can get them online, just make sure they are black. 2" strap snap hook I like the coveralls you listed and I would go with those, with your GMLs approval. Move the pockets to the side while you have green thread loaded into the machine for the harness. Use the sparefabric from the front for the collar extension. For the helmet, ask in your Garrison. Surely someone in the Garison or neighboring Garrisons have one. If nothing else, check into Pepekura--its what we used before we had 3D printing. I had a file for it three hard drives back and made a couple. keep us updated wiht your progress!
  14. Thanks everybody! I wore it for the first time to Dreamnights at the Zoo in Baton Rouge. it was HOT. Sweated out. Its always a hot event.
  15. Great start!!! Another Engineer to man the pumps and build the fortifications!! Couple of things I found from wearing mine: Move the belt way up, Iwear mine right at the coverall split line. Move the shoulder straps forward, over the pockets, otherwise they will constantly want to fall off. There isn't a real load on this rig until you go Sapper and add the MG34 pouches. Make sure the shouldestraps connect under/behind the forward pouches. I mounted mine to the bottom for l2, but you dont have to. Washing it should get rid of some of the shine. I tend to get dirty-----REAL dirty--- so mine has no shine at all. here are where my straps land. Also my straps form a V shape in the back, it helps it sit on the shoulder correctly . I have velcro up there to keep it put when Im not in Sapper wearing the backpack Looking forward to your approval!!!!
  16. i just built three chest boxes this week. Im using four nylon 1/4-20 screws and wingnuts. Ive used this on my TIE box for over ten years, although my ATAT is velcroed on. here is what one of the three boxes i just finished looks like. Mine has metal bolts and metal wingnuts, and it addsweight. Drill your holes through the chest armor first, then transfer to paper and drill matching holes in the chestbox.

  18. HM. disturbing. I dont like the sound of that.
  19. well done. Astra welcome. This is an easy build, like VERY EASY. Its mostly mail order. I need to put together a list of resources for people. Ill try to get to that this week.
  20. Ill fix the shins within that post. Ill update M4 hex scew for L2. Im going to wait on the DLT19 until we get a better reference shot. I will alter the rubber trim on the respirator, however, WE WILL NEED A REFERENCE SHOT OF THE INSIDE OF THE MASK, TAKEN AGAINST A PLAIN WHITE BACKGROUND so it can be added to the CRL Gallery.

Screw is this the M4 screw being referred to? https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-M4-0-7-x-25-mm-Zinc-Plated-Steel-Socket-Cap-Recessed-Hex-Screw-3-per-Bag-803258/204281932 Im going to head out of town for a few hours, and when I get back, I will make up the changes, including someting along the lines of color similar to.
