  1. Those worn spots on the top layers of the creases and folds really sell it.
  2. I think at least some had a rubber trim but @fb501 would best be able to answer that. It was not really discussed previously. On the lenses we know some did not have lenses because they fell out. Current CRL text for Aldhani says tinted and TBH Im fine with leaving it that way. Im not convinced on the texture, and I dont want to write something into a CRL that will give a GML reason to deny. Ive seen that happen dozens of times. if a person wants to do it, fine, its their choice.
  3. Troopers I believe we can finalize the text for our helmet. There are no discernable major differences, and the chin cup may be identified, however with a different strap. The only thing I believe we can change, is the text of the googles. Instead of "are permanently mounted to the helmet" I would like to remove that text since they go flying during the Rix Road altercation. I believe that "may be" at the discretion of the builder would suffice, as long as the strap is trapped by the TU on the side of the helmet. Here is our text proosal: Helmet An open-faced, flared helmet which consists of a dome with rim and helmet skirt. A telemetry unit is attached to the right side of the dome and is aligned with the rim. The telemetry unit consists of a rectangle box with detailing that should match the reference image. The telemetry unit is black. The lower end of the telemetry unit sits out from the helmet to allow the goggle elastic to feed underneath. A raised lip covers the edge of the helmet rim. Metal/silver Imperial code disks are positioned on both sides of the helmet skirt. The helmet is to be painted black to match the armor. The helmet may feature a black chin cup with grey webbing strap. OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): The helmet has a webbing style head suspension similar to work hard hats. Imperial Code Disks do not feature a notch or groove details. Goggles and strap are may be permanently mounted to the helmet, with the telemetry unit mounted directly atop the goggle strap.
  4. I have this exact rawlings chin cup and it is TINY. it is kid size, so I believe it may have been made for the show, perhaps based on this shape. I thought I could use these for my other Army trooper helmets (pictured left) but there was no way. I could literally lay my thumb inside of it. Early in the discussion Fraser told us that they were very thinly/cheaply cast and by the time he got to the set for the road to Nasma Klain the chincups broke. Concerning the color and shade, if you look at the scene where Marva is being projected above the crowd and the Security Troopers are massed, the riot sheild is black. It has absorbed all light. The troopers and their armor are a different shade when viewed from a distance but appear close when viewed at close range. This may be accounted for any cleacoat that was used. Edit- I would like to keep the helmet discussion open for one more day, wrapping up the helmet tomorrow and moving on to the next item on the list.
  5. Basic approval will be made at the Garrison level by your GML. Once your GML has approved it, i strongly enourage you to apply for Specialist . note that the shape of your TU is different than that of the CRL images.
  6. So, with all the discussion we had regarding the color and nailing it down to panzer grey range, was that entirely due to lighting? I have to ask because we spent literally weeks debating the color, buying paint, testing, all the effort that was put into it, and now the day after we publish the CRL we are told its black. No, it would not be an easy process since all photos with all versions need to be completely redone, after all the armors are repainted. It was a push to the finish to get all the armor together. That said, having rewatched the entire series yesterday the Aldhani armor does not appear black. The same situation exists with the ATAT drivers (I had one). The armor and helmet were grey but due to lighting appear white on screen.
  7. i love writing them. I dont know how many ive written, its a lot. Plus all the drafts that never got published.
  8. These are better than I got by trying to take pics of the scenes using my phone. We see the final shape of the pad inside and the strap. The goggle strap goes under the TU and below it, so a part of it is physically trapped like the Mudtrooper is. I have like 6 of this style helmet and the only one with clips is Veers. The brass strip clips I made really help hold the strap in place. The others have glue on the backside because they will just fall off just putting the helmet on.
  9. Fraser noted that when he was dressed on set the chincups had fallen apart being very thinly cast, and that the shinguards were all damaged. All of us with those know how the knees break, and we feel the rear guard action of the Aldhani troopers didnt need the security and personal protection aspect of a security trooper doing crowd control.
  10. Sean I believe you are right, we had some evidence that there was something like 2 sided mounting tape on the goggle strap showing on the Aldhani troopers. The back of the Rix Road trooper definitely slides up. We know from Fraser on set that the goggles were at least mounted to the front, if not cast in place. The lenses in the black Rix Road troopers seem to have their lenses which were partially lost by the time they were repainted for Aldhani. My Army goggles slide all over the place, its just a factor of a goggle and a strap on smooth surface and nothing to grip. Even if they were mounted it would not take much to knock them loose, and that fall to the ground during the fight would defnitely do it. You can even see the color of the lens here. We have the green troopers set to grey webbing for the strap. I have to wonder if this strap is the same strap, mounted internally with no changes, and appears darker due to film lighting differences.
  11. We will be doing one thing at a time, starting at the top. All parts and versions will be covered, when it is time. We will not be skipping ahead, or getting out of place. This is Spec Ops, and things are done methodically. We will hold the discussion for the helmet open until we are satisfied that it is complete and correct. What discussion is there of the helmet, the current CRL topic?
  12. On my riding patches on my snowscout, and being as big as I was at the time, I could not get the riding patches to come anywhere near the shape they needed to be, OR the recommended lenght. In the end, I just said F it, sat down and put them on one at a time with spray on basting spray. They look fine. I am selling my ATAT driver but this is a good thing. It doesnt get the love it deserves and its going to Central Garrison where it will. And the money from the sale is going to fund a new to legion build that Im incredibly excited about. Ive sold costumes when real life got really nasty, but this time its different.
  13. Starting at the top, we begin with the helmet. Also, the color Montana Gold Anthracite has been brought up previously, so I want to get that into the mix early on. Proposal: Helmet An open-faced, flared helmet which consists of a dome with rim and helmet skirt. A telemetry unit is attached to the right side of the dome and is aligned with the rim. The telemetry unit consists of a rectangle box with detailing that should match the reference image. The telemetry unit is black. 14. Troopers. Lets not get off track here. We will begin at the beginning, just as we did with the Army version. The small components will be discussed only when we have finalized the discussion of all major components. Once those are cleared and locked, we will move on, BUT NOT BEFORE THEN.
  15. We have a pretty thorough discussion here of all aspects of it, including our reference images page. I have been seeing some makers out there that are trying to make this coat and basing it off of a commercial utility/ sport jacket and they are getting a lot of details wrong including the correct fabric and its texture. Buyer beware.
  16. Troopers As we move forward and finalize our CRL and attempt to gather more vendors for soft goods, I ask for good close up photos of your soft parts. We need pics in great light, maybe outside, that shows the texture and weave of the fabric. This will ultimately become part of the Gallery feature to help people with their new builds. Can you also let us know who made it, if you went through a vendor, or if you made it yourself and what fabric you used.
  17. All of my harnesses are tucked and tight. There shouldnt be any loose ends visible. I never noticed it was laid out like that on the images, it certianly isnt depicted that way in the art. I would say for L2 make sure all your straps are tucked, hidden and tight, with nothing flopping around. Thats standard field discipline.
  18. Thanks for the updates and clarifications Eric. Im very glad to see this moving forward. Once this is all locked down we can start looking at the Security Forces.
  19. Its just part of the belt to help hold the two parts close together. Not all belts have them.
  20. My fasteners are there but the way that I have my pouches set up you dont see them. You could unsnap them and tuck them behind for the L2 pics. That is the correct style of belt buckle. I had the original A.L.I.C.E buckle and I had to swap it out for a side release buckle for my L2 approval. Tje belts that are being approved for Specialist are the type shown on the CRL page, with the typical "frog" holes. Belts without holes are good for approval for L1. Yes absolutly, the CRL even states that for l1 holes are allowed, which means not mandatory.

  22. The belt itself and pouches are still there. Per our L2 you can wear it above or below the pistol belt.
  23. Im in South Louisiana and I troop in my Hoth gear outdoors in the summer. I hear ya.
  24. oh wow thats unforatunate, but tbh now that you have used vinegar on teh fabric I do not know that it would absorb the dye at the same rate. I tried that with a Jawa and it completely changed the shade. This is one of the main reasons Ill be doing the black uniform.
