  1. The final text is set. Now we need armor and suit photos. If we hvae the suit phtoos, and any components, I think it would be a good time to get those photographed and cropped.
  2. Thank you again for your unflagging support!!!
  3. I just checked and these are still in stock at Endor Finders
  4. topic checked again. There is a link in the boots section taking you to the incredible research Kessel has done, in providing us with acceptable boots that will meet the intent of Level 1 of the CRL. Always check with your GML, and if in doubt, ask us in the WIP if we will accept them for L2 specialist approval.
  5. Ok. wow. Thats something. Memories of writing that BFII rocket trooper. I did find a doulbe repeat of 'paiinted dark grey" that I dont believe should be there. The vents open towards the center of the pack. The side facing the exhaust jets is slanted at a 45 degree angle and has a recessed vent section detail painted dark gray painted dark gray on the fins and black to simulate looking into the pack. The vent opens towards the center of the pack. The side facing outwards past the shoulders has a circular detail in the center of a circular recessed area. The circular detail in the center has a raised
  6. This level of attention to detail sets Spec Ops apart. This CRL will surely be a top of the line uniform once the text is complete.
  7. So are we ready and clear to add this to the final text section?
  8. Thats quite a write up on the pack. Ill need to re read that to absorb it.
  9. There are additional propsals, which were posted to the final text area. I will copy those here. They includes, but are not limited to, a further discussion of the armor, and additional armor plates that were not previously brought up, and additional seam work. Orange new text to be added red strikethrough text to the removed Green revisions to existing text Proposal: Flightsuit The red arm stripe stops at the top of the shoulder seam, but continues up and over the shoulder as a black stripe. For basic approval this can be accomplished with topstitching. The black stripe stops at the collar. OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): The black stripes on top of the shoulders shall be a material matching texture and weave of the red stripe. Armor side plates Chest and back plate meet flush at the sides beneath the arms. This is achieved with a third plate that bridges the distance between the chest and back pieces.
  10. on the coveralls, ive got a lot of experience with them, having workied with close to 200 sets. I have six sets sitting in front of me as I type this. The USMC coverall is no longer produced, and most of what you find oline is VERY old, 70s issue, quite faded and in most cases has old military patches installed. When the patches are remved, they leave the original Sateen color behind. Tarriffs original coveralls had this problem. Also they are just as often as not herringbone pattern fabric, since thats mostly what the US used for coveralls. The other issue is size. USMC coveralls do not go beyond size Xl. That cuts out half of all approved Army troopers. The thing is, for whatever reason, most coveralls in the US are either light blue or tan. I can order a olive green coverall from AWW, but its the totally wrong color. solid OD green coveralls are quite unusual, and tend to come from ex military stock, with all of the issues listed above. We may have to move to some other type of coverall, or have a maker such as WW make them for us, since the Elbcos are being discontinued. Another problem we have with ordering online is what we see on screen when we order. I ordered mine based on others orders, and the color is completely different in reality than what the color shown on screen is. My elbco is a different color than shown in the sales page.
  11. Looking at all the references I get all three vibes: in some it looks OT TK, in some it looks like a clamshell (epecially my Scootch clamshells which are much less pronounced than my Troopermaster hanplates which are MUCH taller) and the spiked plates, which may be an artifact of the game movement. Im tempted to allow a low profile clamshell like Scootch's for L1, and a pointed handplate like Alex has for L2.
  12. so from the images the vest is worn with the pouches mounted low on the vest. This makes sense. Moving pouches blows. So, lets do this: Proposal: 1.1 The tactical vest is a rectangle , correctly fitted to the wearer both in size and scale when compared to reference images from the game. The maximum height of the vest shall not rise more than 2" (50mm} above the top of the magazine pouches mounted to the vest. The pouches will be mounted lower on the vest to accomodate the chestbox, when the chestbox is worn. The pouches are mounted low on the vest, not more than past the middle of the vest, and leave a small gap above the belt.
  13. TIme has passed now on th eproposal and a question was brought up regarding the actual size of the rectangle that composes the bulk of the vest. As with so much of this costume, it will depend on the size of the wearer, since it will be made to size, and not purchased from a tactical store or site. fabric is seen above the top of the magazine pouches. This should be sized to match the reference we see on the screen. I would like to add a line to the CRL proposal. Proposal: The tactical vest is a rectangle , correctly fitted to the wearer both in size and scale when compared to reference images from the game. 14. hi again Sean, I forget not everyone knows the acronyms of the Makers. SC is Studio Creations. I know they had black, but they may be pulling only in whilte now. If you are in Malaysia there are some makers that are closer to you. The vendor list should give you all the info on that. Good luck!
  15. this is great~! Im going to go ahead and suggest you do two things to send it up to the top! First, adjust the straps so you hide the hooks; Hook them to the bottom of the belt, or mount them behind the pouches so they dont pucker. Second, adjust the back side straps in towards your spine to get rid of the pucker. The shape of the shoulder straps should be nice and smooth all the way down the back. Looks likeyou have the right sewed V shap, but it should track more like a V. Then retake your photos, and send them off to the GML! Heres mine. I had to play with it to get the V shape.
  16. Hello Sean and welcome! Im glad you posted. Do us a quick favor and make a post over in the Recruits topic. Scouts a great choice either as your first uniform, or fifth. In general they are fairly easy to build, you can move , sit, squat and run into trees all day long. Since they are only half armored, they are a lot more comfortable to wear vs the other Troopers, other than say Pilots like Del Meeko. You will want to read the others' wip topics here to see how they did it but I know makers pull in black plastic. I could have sworn that Studio Creations pulled in black, but their website only lists white now. Definitely reach out to Jeff at SC. I know a few weeks back I read that they had had some issues, mostly covid related. I would definitely send Jeff an Email at their website. Depending on where you are in the world, you may find a maker closer-and with shipping charges that would be considerably less. Dig into the other topics here, and youll see where others got their kits and soft parts. I know Stephs Imperial Outfitters on FB makes scout parts in runs. Furiosa has posted several very helpful tutorials here in the Scout section. And-dont be nervous. Ive seen dozens of people get their kit, get all nervous, jam it back in the box and it literally sits in the closet for four years. I assembled one of those very kits just last year. Four years it sat untouched because the guy was afraid to even begin. Please dont be that guy. You learn by doing. I never touched a costume in my life before I joined the Legion and ive built over 100 costumes . Good luck!
  17. Like Krieger says, YUP YUP YUP~! Gloves are fine! i used the french gloves that do not have any lines, so I ran about two feet of serger string off my serger, and cut that up into 6 pieces, glued it to the gloves, painted the MG OG, and then got my gloves dirty. Go play in he cat litter box. They will look great. Everything else is right on, just keep in mind when you do your straps depending on your build you want the straps t lay flat against your shoulders, and not stand up like what we used to call Commander Spock shoulderpads. You can angle them inwards towards each other to achieve this.
  18. for the Elbco / Transcon suits all you need to do is roll down the collar, stitch it, and then take a strip off the lower leg and stitch that in place. Make sure you have a point on the end. Add a snap before you put it on and you are set for L2.
  19. yep its here: https://forum.specops501st.com/topic/5889-coverall-and-collar-conversion-tutorial/ but, for those following, the transcon suits only need a strap attached to the esisting collar. My collar is rolled down, stitched, and a slab of the lower leg cuff cut off and stitched on for the neck closure. SUPER simple.
  20. Ive been saying that a engineer (or in this case a wellington, but this is not what I grew up with calling a wellington, but thats irrelevant) can be used if the shaft is the right height. To me it has the right look, toe shape etc, minus the tab at the top which shouldn't be seen when worn with the pants. For L1 a GML will use the CRL as written, and as intended. He or she is given some level of leeway due to induvial variation. How FAR a GML is willing to go is entirely up to them. Some GMLs give no variation from CRLS whatsoever. The Rebel Legion allows somewhat taller boots if you can blouse it down far enough to give the right appearance. I own like 12 pairs of boots including really cheap leather engineer boots from Payless shoe store, and at one point I cut the tops off of them to fit what I needed at the time. For Level 2, no variation will be given, but that review happens once a uniform is submitted to the Detachment for Speicilaist review. Re-do's and alterations are the norm for Specialists.
  21. Overlap is common on troopers when the plastic parts come together and one part is mounted directly on top of the other part. Some trooper kits come with the receiving part molded with a shelf for the other part to mount onto, so the plates appear to be butt-joined. All snowtrooper forearms are overlapped significantly.
  22. thats a cool lookin' boot. The CRL is live, slap a ruler to it to make sure it meets the 8" hieght requirement. Remember, your GML will be approving, we can only give guidance. I would rather wear that with my Rogue 1 comm tech officer, I dont like the chelseas. Its almost impossible to get into, and once Im in, I have to have help to get out of them. Also, have you considered cutting down a cheap pair of jackboots to the height required?
  23. some clones had padding, we had to do that here to get the shoulder pads to move away from the shoulder. it can bet put in as an L2. it caused more problems than it solved, so that seems L2 to me.
